3rd Annual Student Excellence Award Winners

Every school year-end we ask teachers to submit photos of deserving student projects to us for our Student Excellence Awards. Our staff votes on their favourites and the winners receive accolades in our newsletter and gift cards to West Wind. We always see the value in supporting young woodworking talent and promoting skills in the trades.

We had an amazing collection of submissions this year, it was even harder to judge because there were so many levels and variations in projects. All did fabulous work and the students should be proud! Here are the top projects and some honourable mentions:

After it cured, he then routered the edges, sanded it and oiled it. It is now hanging on his bedroom door.

Near and Far: Grade 12, 1976

Jan’s BIG year-end project for Construction 12 was teak shelves for his bedroom.  Jan had already decided he was following in his dad’s footsteps of woodworking and was signed up to begin his apprenticeship program; he’d been shadowing his dad for years.
