Jan's Day Off: Fallen Timber - West Wind Hardwood

We always carry a chainsaw, rope and other survivalist paraphernalia when we tootle around the back roads of the Port Renfrew area. Eyes wide open for photo ops for the newsletter; more “Cancer” walking sticks and other flotsam and jetsam that would augment West Wind’s selling racks.

Saturday was a beautiful blue sky day full of frost and sun. We chanced upon this log across the road. Luckily others before had dealt with the heavy-duty clearing but there was a beautiful western red cedar that offered up a couple of blocks. Fingers crossed that we’ll see some decent guitar blanks. Check in on our progress.

  1. Hi Jan
As a practicing ‘stick maker’ I’d like to know more about your cancer walking sticks.

    cheers, arthur
