Redheart

Scientific name: Erythroxylum spp. and Simira spp.

Commonly called Chakte Kok, Redheart is grown in Southern Mexico to southern Brazil and Paraguay. It is described as a beautiful “watermelon” colour and can look quite similar to Bloodwood. The grain is relatively straight and has a natural lustre. Redheart’s vibrant colour quickly fades to a reddish brown in direct sunlight, so it is advised to keep this wood out of direct sunlight and use a UV protective finish if light can’t be avoided.
