Kingwood

Scientific name: Dalbergia cearensis

A rosewood dark in color with varying purple or reddish brown and black streaks. It’s a pretty rare import, seldom available as lumber. Harvested in Brazil but occasionally Mexico as well. Kingwood is among the densest (and probably strongest) of all the rosewoods. Historically, Kingwood supposedly got its name from being used as the preferred wood of French kings (Louis XIV and Louis XV) in the use of fine furniture.
