Macassar Ebony is grown in Southeast Asia and is used for veneers, cabinetry, musical instruments and other specialty items you would typically use African ebony. It has a dramatic striped grain much like Zebrawood only with a generally reddish-brown base and darker brown or black stripes. This wood is very dense and known to be difficult to work with unless you are using it for turning.
