We came across an article in Wooden Boat Magazine and it reminded us of the amazing work that the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre does with students at Maple Bay Elementary. We couldn’t be more proud, since we support this event every year with a donation of plywood.
We were approached by our customer Jim York from Murphy Wall Beds to contribute to this worthy cause. He and his son our members of the 3rd Douglas group of Scouts in which West Wind has been a supporter for many years supplying marine plywood and lumber for their yearly boat building projects.
This special trip will take the 12 young Scouts from various local troops to Blair Atholl, in the Scottish Highlands, for the 35th Scottish International Patrol Jamborette. Many amazing and fun activities are planned and its sure to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
West Wind was proud to support this cause, we hope you will too.
This fundraiser for the Langley Hospice Society is a bike ride by Ryan Jones, on August 7th 2014, where he will ride from Langley to Kelowna, that’s 400 kms in one day.
This ride is in honour of Laurie Lemon, Ryan’s mother-in-law and wife to our friend Phil Lemon.
Please visit the lemonloveride website to donate.
The crew at West Wind had another great giving opportunity by Mrs. Clarke’s Grade 7 Class.
It is the the 2nd year we have donated to this cause brought on by the class at Dunsmuir Middle School. The fund raising campaign is to raise money for Gifts of Hope through Plan Canada. The students have been reading, writing, connecting, and researching issues in order to ignite some global change! They have set goals to purchase pigs, goats, mosquito nets, medicine, school supplies etc in developing countries.
The class has set up a Giving Page through Canadahelps.org so the students can follow along with their progress. In past years they have raised anywhere from $1500 to$3000.
